You could use a usb to serial converter-- like what we use in the office since our computer does not have a serial port... That's usb to serial converter works with Linux ....

Unfortunately, all the modems that you listed won't work with Linux. Yeah, they're USB modems, but all of those are Winmodems. :( None of them are USB-ACM compliant, so they're not supported under Linux.
