I'm using an ipw2200 in my Tecra M2 and the only issue i have is that it won't associate at all using a WEP key if restricted is not mentioned and its an upstream issue. You can try looking at bugzilla.ubuntu.com if there are similar problems you encounter. If not, file a bug and I'll assign it to the appropriate person.
