No, I meant that new Sempron cores being manufactured now support the x86-64 intruction set. > Are the Semprons true 64-bit chips? If I remember my Anandtech and Xbitlabs articles correctly, mid-model (at least) Semprons actually correspond to the earlier Athlon XPs. AMD was essentially differentiating their high and low-end ranges through presence or lack of 64-bit support (e.g. there were no more 32-bit cores being branded as Athlon XP at that point in time). Now that all new Semprons being introduced are 64-bit capable (at least abroad, dunno locally), I guess the primary difference is back to cache size. _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
