We are using efax w/ efax-gtk it works off site , but in the office we
get frame errors, must be the d-link modem or the usb to serial
converter.. hehehe We have not tried to set up an answering machine w/
Linux
yet...

Is this even possible?
I remember setting up a Windows desktop way back in 2000 which could
send/receive fax documents and act as an answering machine. However, all
the software I used were proprietary.
I've successfully sent fax messages using StarOffice 5.2 and my external
D-Link voice/fax modem, but I haven't been able to setup fax receiving
back then. I was also using Slackware, so that was a pain to go through.
I've read about mgetty and vgetty then but I don't know if they would do
the trick on their own.
Has anyone done this successfully? My other option is to just find
myself an analog answering machine, which wouldn't be too much of a
challenge -- I think. :)
TIA
