not from the board but i can think of a few reasons aside from having
a separate list for it:

  - minimizing followup questions (especially one-liners)
  - avoiding resume posts (some people just click the reply button
without looking at the recipients)
  - the list rules (and i think they still are) prohibits post for
profits, and job posting is for the profit of a commercial entity. :)
