Check the ff. in your /etc/postfix/main.cf:
mynetworks_style =
mynetworks =

It should include the host(s) or network(s) that are authorised to send mail.

thanks to all who helped with the antispam postfix tips.
A problem arose though, when I tried the ff. lines to my main.cf:

smtpd_recipient_restrictions =
            reject_non_fqdn_sender,
            reject_non_fqdn_recipient,
            reject_unknown_sender_domain,
            reject_unknown_recipient_domain,
            reject_unauth_destination,
            reject_unauth_pipelining
            permit_mynetworks,
         reject_non_fqdn_hostname

email clients could not send email out, and they get the message "relay access denied".
any ideas?

many thanks again
