I'm building a server that would be running syslog-ng and MySQL, and I'm considering of using SATA instead of SCSI drives. What are the advantages of SCSI drives over SATA? From my understanding the architecture of the two drives are exactly the same except for chipset and interface to the motherboard.

Are there guidelines/recommendations as to when to use SCSI or SATA?
