with apple ditching powerpc to go with intel core duo, and yelling all the
way to the bank about the much higher performance..

Let Apple and Intel dwell in Steve Jobs' reality distortion field... I must
admit though that the Pentium M is good for its intended purposes. :)

The PowerPC 970MP, though with a 100W TDP as compared to a 50W dual-core Pentium
M, is still the cheapest way to having a dual-core, Power4-based machine at
mortal (well, nearly demigod) prices. The PowerPC chips are quite good for
floating point operations (for encryption, video, etc) - very nice for building
Linux-based appliances along those areas (but that's just me).

As I can't afford such, I'm settling with Opterons instead.
