I've googled and found that I should use Partition Magic and do the lazy way of partitioning via windows and install everything after that.
Partition Magic is nice and useful if you've already partitioned your harddisk and want to change how it is divided without destroying your data.
If you're starting from scratch though, you don't have to shell out money for PartitionMagic. Just install windows 98, then install windows xp (alloting a blank partition for Linux which you can use later). Windows XP comes with a simple partitioning tool (really hidden though: Control Panel-->Administrative Tools->Computer Management-->Storage->Disk Manager).
If you made a mistake in partitioning and want to correct it non-destructively, download a copy of knoppix [1]. Knoppix comes with qparted, which can resize your ntfs and fat partitions. I've used this to resize the ntfs partitions on my laptop (which shipped with windows) to make way for linux partitions. No problems encountered.
(Unless you can shell out dough for PartitionMagic ;) ) moogs _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
