Technically, and strictly speaking, Linux=Kernel.
Then together with the GNU Apps, compilers, libraries, etc., it then becomes a complete system.

To check if it's really linux, you can visit their homesite and check out the sources for the CD. The kernel source would be similar to the official kernel distribution.

Then the same with the apps that's included.

Regarding your printer, check http://linuxprinting.org for the correct model of your printer.

Hello all,

I use DamnSmallLinux at home and it works great (and fast).

I have a few questions:

1. Linux ba talaga yon? :) To rephrase: how can one actually know if a
distro is truly GNU/Linux (sounds like a trick question, but honestly I
want to know. Feel free to be philosophical in your response :)

2. I can't get it to work with my HP1300 laserjet using the built-in lpd
nor cups.

Finally, thanks for the bandwidth given to me in this list (attn: Ricky
and Claire). I really appreciate it.
