there are numerous gps software available on linux
(gpsdrive to name one) but so far none that i know
of, supports auto driving route from source to
destination similar to google earth/map. so i've
settled for google's. using firefox/gimp, i've made
some snapshots of the route that i'm interested with
and save them on a file for offline reference.
everything was smooth sailing until sh!t happened.
i got lost despite the tools that i've got. but it's
fairly simple, right? all i have to do is to reconnect
to google maps and specify my current location and
generate a new route to my destination. but i'm not
on SF and i dont have a wardriver's map w/ me! i was
about to turn my shirt inside & out when my navigator
boots up his XP, plugged the gps device to his machine
and with a few clicks on his mouse we had an auto route
info done offline. he then asked me w/ a grin on his
face, "what's your OS again?"

if you happen to know a gps software available on
linux that supports auto driving route, i would
appreciate it if you would give me a link or update.

and if you want to test/run MS streets & trips on
Wine/VMWare, you can buy the software for only 40USD
and 130USD packaged w/ a NMEA 2.0-compliant gps device
(yes, i'm considering buying one).
