Hi,
How about a small distro with auto network
configuration like Auto-DHCP,
you can do it with Puppy but manually…
Well I know you can remaster the
CD with your own settings but I haven’t
tried it yet, just a newbie with linux..
I was thinking of thinkering with puppy
and remastering a CD with auto dhcp
configured, removed games, customized
wallpapers and bookmarks for the
mozilla browser so users won’t have
to memorize additional steps just to
configure the workstation to work with the
network. Hehe. But well.. don’t know
yet to start, well I know I need to start
reading manuals at puppylinux.org <sigh>
Any ideas to make my exploration easier will
be highly appreciated…
I’m using Ubuntu + KDE on mine though.
=)

I love my Puppy Linux
too! Lightweight and fast (and the cute puppy!)
But if you're looking for other "small" distros... I find Vector
Linux (which I think is also based on Slack) very fast. I have also tried
Beatrix which works much like Ubuntu but lighter. I hope my friend Edu
will reply to this thread coz he has more than dozen live Cd distro to share.

Hi guys,
I am using Puppy Linux running on CDROM for our 8
workstation clients all without hardisk. The purpose
is to access our web based application on the main
server. It's only 60MB in size.
It really worked wonders and ***tremendously*** lessen
our expense with hardware and OS cost not to mention
limit the activities of encoders to their work and easier
training for MS users.
I tried running Ubuntu Live CD but it loads sluggishly
on our machine (Sempron 2500 , 128 Memory, No hardisk,
No FDD, No Hardisk) =) what a budget!!! Well just for
Pure encoding.
I also tried Austrumi but it also worked like Ubuntu.
Any live distros you might suggest?
