Thanks for this, Thad.  On a related note, Rommel Feria can actual proctor a written LPI exam, which will turn out cheaper than the one you take via VUE or Prometric (or whatever they call themselves now).  I think it must be around $60.

The only drawbacks are that you'll want to organize the exam as a group and that the results take a while to get back to you.
