Normally when you execute su and then password you get [EMAIL PROTECTED] home]. But in my case i got [bash-3.00#]. So what do i do to get back the setting of [EMAIL PROTECTED] home]?

Uh, I don't understand what you intend to do ("change to original
root"): root what? user? directory?

To use su with root's login shell, use:

su -

Please note the dash ("-"). For more info,

man su
