This would also be cumbersome for us also.
David Tang of Novell recommended that we could instead get a survey of
how many are the free/open source software 1.) users (only) and 2.)
programmers. I'd need help though in constructing the questionaire
(attn: stat majors :D). Then we publish the figures we've gathered in
our website.
The more facts we could gather, the more credible our claims can be.
