Note that the normal character set used for the ja_JP locale is usually EUC-JP, which is the standard Japanese character set for Unix and Unix-like OSes (NOT UNICODE!). If the file came from a Japanese MS Windows installation, the text is most likely in Shift-JIS or maybe in Unicode if it originated from an English Windows. You may need to recode the file: do 'info recode' to learn how to use the GNU Recode command to convert your files. -- Don't fear the Law, fear the man who wields it. http://stormwyrm.blogspot.com/ _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
