I guess the best thing to do to determine that is get some computer
shop's price list, preferably from the web, and look for the
manufacturer and model if they're compatible on linuxprinting.org.

Oh, and I just got a Samsung ML-1610 laser printer 1.5 weeks ago from
a sale on this prominent mall here in Makati for less than 5k. The
printer is not listed in linuxprinting.org, but the drivers for the
other Samsung laser printers (I used the driver for ML-1510) is
compatible. I tried it on Kubuntu and CentOS.

Of course, I also have this ancient Epson LX-800 9-pin dot matrix
printer which is almost 13 years old already. Still works fine.
