Hello Chance!

Thanks for the solution you've given. I have not tried this one yet though.

Another question (sorry for being makulit), when I try to create a new connection, the Groups/Server list is always empty and has an X mark beside it.

I already created a configuration file that contains the line

IC1 : /H/10.10.10.1/S/3200

then this IC1 is already reflected on the logon screen. When I try creating a new connection, I have the IC1 i1n the System Field but (none) in the Groups/Server list.

The Save button is always disabled I think because the Groups/Server list is empty.

Have I missed something at the configuration file?

TIA. ^_^

Hi rai,

ok, so you donot have access to sap service market place.

Symptom

You are trying to run SAP GUI for Java and there are error messages like java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError or similar problems like the following:

############################# ERROR #############################

01.06. 16:03:35.189 ERROR:Cannot load shared library 'JPlatin' or some

dependent library: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError:

/opt/SAPClients/6.40rev4/bin/libJPlatin.so:

/opt/SAPClients/6.40rev4/bin/libJPlatin.so: undefined symbol: cerr

############################# ERROR #############################

or:

############################# ERROR #############################

09.12. 16:27:40.762 ERROR: Cannot load shared library 'JPlatin' or some

dependen t library: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no JPlatin in

java.library.path

############################# ERROR #############################

Other terms

SAP GUI for Java, SAPGUI for Java, JavaGUI, Linux, Debian, Fedora, SuSE, Mandrake, Gentoo, Red Hat, Redhat, RHAS, RHEL, SLES, Fedora Core

Reason and Prerequisites

Even though large portions of SAP GUI for Java are written in Java there is a native library that depends on the C standard runtime and the C++ runtime library. If these dependencies cannot be resolved above error message will be the result.

Solution

Linux:

On Linux this error is usually caused by a C++ runtime library of the wrong version. The following command shows which libraries are used and which are missing:

in directory /opt/SAPClients/6.40rev4/bin (or wherever SAP GUI for

Java is installed) run the following command:

  ldd libJPlatin.so (ldd -v for verbose output)

The libraries not found by ldd need to be installed. This usually means adding a missing C++ runtime library. A matching C++ runtime library should be available for any Linux distribution. For example the following packages should deliver the missing libraries:

Mandriva:    libstdc++2.10-2.96-0.83mdk.i586.rpm

Debian:      package libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2.deb

Fedora Core: package compat-libstdc++

RedHat:      package compat-libstdc++

SuSE:        package compat-2004.11.xx-x

Have a look at http://www.rpmseek.com/ if you cannot find the correct package for your distribution.

Best regards
Chance

Hi Chance!

Where can I get sapnote? I tried googling but Mr Google is getting impatient with my spelling (he insists on sap note 909 250 and still returns 0 results ^_^ ).

Thanks.

Hi Rai,

The second screen (sap2.png ) seems to be more descriptive of the problem. I don't think the problem is with the configuration. My opinion is that it's not able to find the JNI shared libraries (*.so files) that it needs.

I'm not familiar with the SAPGui program and how it is installed but you have to make these *.so files accessible to your program.

Subject: Re: [plug] SAP on Linux[Scanned]

Hello everyone!

I have a follow-up question on this matter. I have already installed the SAPGui but when connecting to the server, I get this error message:
Cannot load shared library 'JPlatin' or some dependent library.java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no JPlatin in java.library.path

I have screenshots of the messages here:
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/rairaiken/sap2.png
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/rairaiken/sap.png

Here's what I did:

1. I created a txt file in a local folder /opt named config.list which contains this line:
TST : /H/10.10.10.1/S/3200
TST = system ID
10.10.10.1 = host
3200 = port

2. After creating the file, in the Logon Screen, I opened Options > Preferences and edited the Include Configuration File to contain this line

/opt/config.list

3. Going back to the Logon Screen, I already have the TST option there. When I click Edit, I can see the Advanced Tab with Expert Settings enabled. When clicking Connect, the error messages will pop.

What causes the error message? Any workaround on this or did I do something wrong with the configuration?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! ^_^

Hello everyone!

Thanks for all the help. I already got my java-based SAPGui running on FC4. I installed Sun's Java and issued the alternatives command to make Sun's java the default jvm.

Again, thanks sa lahat po ng tumulong at nagbigay ng input. ^_^

Could you provide more information on the JVM you're using for running
the SAP GUI. I suspect the error is caused by the default JVM bundled
in FC4.

To check execute these commands and post the results here:

1. which java

2. java -version

It is recommended that you use the official Java JRE downloadable from
java.sun.com to avoid issues with running Java applications on Linux.
