The latest Ubuntu stable release (Breezy) ought to have a little more
packages in all sections than Debian Sarge, since Breezy is based on a
snapshot of Debian unstable (and yes, there are more packages going in
unstable these days.) Also, the converse is also true, that there are
some Debian packages that are still in Sarge but are not carried
anymore on Breezy (or the development branches, Sid for Debian and
Dapper for Ubuntu) due to removals.

You _are_ using Debian, right? If so, you should go grab packages
from the Sarge repository then, since Breezy/Dapper's {multi, uni}verse
repos are _not_ guaranteed to be binary-compatible with Sarge. You
might also want to `backport' the latest Etch (testing) packages to
Sarge, if these are NEW packages; the details to do this are in the
`debian-reference' package (or ask around in the #debian IRC channel
;).

Cheers,

Zakame
