i just installed Antivir so I can have a secondary means of scanning Windoze. To tell frankly, I wished I could abandon "nurse-maiding" Window$, but my mom and sister will kill me. They are not technical users :P

This can actually be fixed. It only becomes necessary when the linux
gods decide that an antivirus is a worthwhile tradeoff then im going
to look for another OS or transform linux until its not linux anymore.
Im sure everybody else in the linux kernel list is thinking of the
same thing.

Actually windows can be actually be fixed so it relatively resistant
to 98 % of the viruses out there. They didnt because the marketing
guys thought its not worth it.

Yes im aware of that. Im sure that can be fixed. If the elf gods say
elf must remain backward compatible then screw them. i will join
whoever comes up with a better alternative format. or im going back to
a.out format. For the everyone else i think selinux can handle that
elegantly.

I have experienced a virus in linux. It was able to spread and bring
down my system because i was running untrusted executables as root at
that time. I learned my lesson the hard way.
Now if only windows can run the whole system as an ordinary user with
limited priviliges than it would not suck as much.
