the downside though is that if you bridge using a linux PC, if that PC fails then your network fails (of course you can just manually connect the internal net to the DSL modem directly in that case)

another way is to put a linux bridge between the DSL modem and your internal network. since the linux box is a bridge it won't be visible at all. but you can sniff the traffic on the bridge and do some nice reports.
