Fellow Linux users, I just want to share to you the happiness I am experiencing with Simply MEPIS. I was able to install it using a Neo brand of laptop with specifications of: Celeron M 1.3Ghz, 512Mb, 40Gb, ans SIS chipset. The modem (win modem) was easily detected and installed and also the LAN card. There are many useful applications installed. The good thing with MEPIS is that you can test your hardware first by booting the CD (live CD/ at the same time it is an installer). If the hardware is compatible with it, you can easily double-click the 'Install' icon on the desktop to install it on the hardisk drive.
Hopefully this good news really will excite you also to try it. By the way I am one of the Linux users who is still wanting and looking for a user-friendly desktop Linux Operating System. I think this is also one of the best desktop Linux developed nowadays. Thanks for the people who are continously supporting open source softwares, especially those who are investing time, money, developers/programmers, testers etc...
