i cant really get a succesful update/upgrade.

bandwidth prob keeps me from downloading iso, anyone willing to share your dapper download?

I also have problems upgrading from breezy to dapper via apt-get
dist-upgrade. A fresh install is surely the best approach. If your still
want to dist-upgrade breezy I suggest do it in the server mode (text-based
w/out GUI) then after that, do a sudo apt-get ubuntu-desktop. This way
moving the old versions of gnome in breezy to the latest gnome in dapper
won't give you any problems.

Just my 2 cents based on experience.
