Hello Iris,

In general terms, mbox stores all email messages in a single file per
user. Maildir stores each message as a separate file in a directory.
One advantage of using maildir is that when a mail file becomes
corrupted, you only lose one, with mbox, when it gets corrupted
then its bye bye email.

There are scripts that can convert mbox to maildir. You should not
lose any of the mails in your mbox. One thing to note though, make
sure your pop/imap server supports maildir.

HTH!

Lawrence

Hi Lawrence,
Whats the diff between mbox & maildir?
If I switched to maildir, will I lose mails? How will it affect me?

I suggest you switch from using mbox to maildirs. The internet
has vast resources on how this is done. HTH! Lawrence
