fyi debian is notorius for its always late updates, i bet that the clamav you installed from the repository is the 0.88.1 or 0.88.2 version instead of the 0.88.3 version. if you want the latest version of clamav modify your apt sources list and add dotdeb.org as one of your sources and use the apt utilities to upgrade your version or you can install from source.
