Hi Rogelio,

I'm not familiar with the prices of branded desktop form opterons.
However, if you can find a socket 939 opteron processor, you shouldn't
have a hard time finding a socket 939 motherboard to go with it for
cheaper costs.

I'm playing around with the amd64 arch right now actually as well,
albeit with an athlon64 processor. I'm currently installing ubuntu and
debian on my desktop and would like to try out the amd64 gentoo as well
if I still have enough space (I'm only sharing /root and /home between
the OSes and nothing else). I'd like to hear from your experiences if
you push through with installing an amd64 kernel on an opteron.
