we have two recently bought entry level server, one is hp proliant ml150 and
the other is supermicro, i have no problem with them, both works right out
of the box if you install FOSS, hp even have a diagnostic cd whose OS is
based on linux.

Hi Jan,
When you buy your HP ml150 have you used the built-in raid controller ( SATA RAID controller?). I got a problem back then when I install FC4 and don't have to choice but to use software raid. I was just curious what did you install in it and haven't encountered any problem I ( might ) try it out too.. Thanks

we only have jbod so no need for the sata raid controller, but imo using the sata raid controller provided by adaptec will give you headaches coz they stopped supporting foss, correct me if im wrong though.
