Setup the DHCP server to assign IP addresses based on
the MAC IDs of each and every lan card.  Unrecognized
MAC IDs should be given an address on a separate
subnet.

Again this is tedious.  And not just at the beginning,
but as you add/remove NICs in the network you need to
reconfigure your DHCP server.

I still say the simpler the solution the better.
