I think if you did that it will make your problem bigger because AFAIK the
process is something like this please correct me if im wrong
Internet mail---->SMTPD ( 25 ) ------>amavis-new port 10024 ----->content
filter 10025 ----->pick-up/clean------->local delivery
So if you disabled that port the amavis-new won't know where to pass the
mail that is subject for content inspection. and port 10024 is only the
"bridge" between the smtpd port to the content-filtering port.. again I
might be wrong with this.. but we could always visit the amavisd-new
documentation for this..

i was also affected with the xorg-core bug but was able to fix things
after fours and only after i logged on to the ubuntu forums from
another computer. the fix solved by problem but it was too late
already because i reinstalled ubuntu thinking that it was caused by
something i had done, you know, tweaking and experimenting...

My friend made one during college thesis using pcb boards then he made a
reader that is connected to a serial port. its large enough so you can cover
the pcb with a sticker with printed name and picture --- tadaaa! it doubles
as a company ID.
You basic electronic circuitry class on BSCS should have covered how to make
the circuit to represent the employee (its just actually shorting the pins
on the serial port to represent data) and reading com port should be easy
using VB, even PHP can read and write to com ports, on linux you can do this
by just tail | grep'ing the port... Heck, i use to program using GWBasic to
write/read on com ports (poke/peek), i love oldies! :P
