Hi Dean! =)

I agree. But really, when it comes to the server, how would Ubuntu
look like when put side by side with RHEL, SuSE, and Debian?

Just like any other Linux distribution: another choice for the GNU generation :P

I've heard a lot of voices agreeing to not using Ubuntu on the server
(which somewhat agrees to my stand), but it would be great if someone
gave a differing view? Or is it a general concensus that Ubuntu on the
server isn't really yet as mature as we'd like?

Stability, like many other factors affecting the choice of a distro,
is mainly influenced by the context surrounding a particular
application. Furthermore, stability is also appeals to the
psychological context, enough so that vendors do take note on this
aspect in their marketing stratagem.

Hence, instead of looking at particular distributions, I would first
consider how an application would supply a particular context, and
proceed from there. Indeed, from what I observe of many groups, what
matters is not the choice of any particular distro, but the capacity
for a distro's extensibility to match the requirements of the
application.

That aside, I would be happy if Dapper on the server can meet your
application's requirements. If not, then there's certainly room for
its improvement...

Cheers,

Zakame
