hi i am curerntly using a slackware-10.2 system and am using an HP
3745 printer. My system kernel is kernel-2.6.14 with usblp suppport.
My printer driver used to wok with the hplip-1.6.6 cups backend. But
recently cups wasn't able to connect to the printer. I checked the
processes and found out that the "hpiod" daemon is not running even
though it was invoked manually through /usr/local/sbin/hpiod. It
generates a /var/run/hpiod.pid but the process does not exists
according to "ps ax". I tried upgrading to hplip 1.6.7 and received
again the same reports.

is anyone experiencing problems with this printer drivers? I assumed
that all the required libraries were properly installed since it was
part of the building hplip and installing it.
