some soft modem manufacturers (those so-called winmodems) release their source codes to the linux community while others do not, which makes winmodems (especially conexant's) problematic in linux. i read from a website somewhere that said if we just e-mail winmodem manufacturers and ask them why there is no linux driver for their product, they would be forced to create a driver or release their codes... sounds tough... what you think?
