our company switched from BPI to Metrobank (they call it global initiative realignment crap) and Metrobank relies on an ActiveX component before they will let you into their secure portal. maybe one of these days i will try ie4linux if that will alleviate the pain caused by the stupidity on metrobank's part but for now i will just keep on doing my workaround: withdraw whatever is left in my paycheck and deposit it to my bpi account.
I feel your pain. Also, based on one of your recent blog entries, I'm guessing we may be working in the same company. Metrobank doesn't care about small customers. Most branch I've visited feels like a government office - poor and slow service. Even if their website doesn't have a retarded ActiveX-driven authentication, most of it still sucks! Though I find the bills payment service rather convenient.
I used to do your workaround but it gets really tiring to do that every payday. I'm using ies4linux and it's working well. Regarding licensing, my assumption is that our corporate license stands.
once i was able to access the bpi forms using a vanilla firebird installations (yes, firebird since i think it was 0.9.2). the whole dropdown system was working but when i upgraded to the next version i had to revert to using the nie link. :(
The dropdown menus, though not perfect, is usable in Opera 9 - and as I recall even as far back as Opera 6 or 7.
and metrobank atms are running on windows. laging blue screen un machine nila sa walkway malapit sa ayala museum.
No big deal, I guess, as long as those are not connected to the internet.
ciao!
