Even with its own Linux Distro, most of it are protected by GNU-GPL, right?
Or am i just being naive here?

There's no one keeper.

FWIW Novell and Microsoft are working together for the benefit of
their own respective technologies and communities, which, although may
overlap the Linux community in some parts, nonetheless does not
represent the whole. These two companies also made it clear that,
while they will be working cooperatively for certain endeavors, this
doesn't mean that they won't be competing for more marketshare.

I suppose its just about time people realize that there's no one
entity controlling Linux or FOSS in general, not even Linus Torvalds
or Richard Stallman. Corporations, being the `legal' person they are,
are also free to do whatever it is in their best interests, but
everyone else should be vigilant.

Cheers,

Zakame
