Hello All,

In my thinking, one way to lock in FOSS in the Philippines is to do two
things.

1. Push Bayanihan to join Asianix. This would give it the support it
needs to be used Asia-wide.

2. Push the Philippine government to use Bayanihan / Asianix. This
would ensure that you could use FOSS, and still have support for
proprietary applications.

Anyway, just my two cents. I appreciate being able to participate in
your email list.

Salamat,

Hi,

Just to add, I think it will also help to propagate FOSS by making the IT
school to embrace or acknowledge at least that Unix/Linux has a growing
share in the industry. At the moment most IT school focus on dot net, win
dose and other technology monopolize by few company.

The solution will be Open Source companys be the first hand to reach and
introduce the open source related technology. Supporting organization
outside and inside the school that advocate the use of Open Source will also
be great it help to make the organization more active and gain popularity to
increase member.

For example at the moment I am trying to organize/conceptualize an org that
will help built experience and expertise and make programming using FOSS fun
for its member. This org will help to make a quality IT expert and help to
promote Open Source inside and outside the school.

Cheers,
John
