There's a reason for SVN being unforgiving about *you* deleting the files from under it -- it wants to make sure that it can version that change you made (the deletion). That way, when you do shoot yourself in the foot, you can always go back in time and retrieve that file that you accidentally deleted (given the fact that you used svn(1) to delete it).
