hi,

i'm using ubuntu edgy eft and i want to use the misc-fixed-* ... font
family's for my gnome-terminal (it looks so much nicer than what
defaults in monospace). "xlsfonts" shows that the font is installed
and located in /usr/share/fonts/X11/misc but fc-list does not return
the Fixed font family. i have tried adding the following entries to
/etc/fonts/fonts.conf but it still does not work after an X or system
restart:

        <match target="pattern">
                <test qual="any" name="family">
                        <string>fixed</string>
                </test>
                <edit name="family" mode="assign">
                        <string>monospace</string>
                </edit>
        </match>

...

<!--
 Monospace faces
-->
        <alias>
                <family>DejaVu Sans Mono</family>
                <family>Bitstream Vera Sans Mono</family>
                <family>DejaVu Sans Mono</family>
                <family>Courier</family>
                <family>Courier New</family>
                <family>Andale Mono</family>
                <family>Luxi Mono</family>
                <family>Cumberland AMT</family>
                <family>Nimbus Mono L</family>
                <family>NSimSun</family>
                <family>FreeMono</family>
               <family>Fixed</family> <!-- added line -->
                <default><family>monospace</family></default>
        </alias>

does anyone have experience of enabling such PCF fonts in gnome?
