It hasn't changed a bit since :)

Slackware is still slim, fast & powerful (specially slim compared to Redhat &
Fedora) and the installation and configuration has improved quite a bit since
I first used it.

The only problem with this distro is non-technical, it's wholly dependent on
one person who , a couple of years ago , had a life threatening illness.

While open source is noted for people filling in when the original movers
disappear, there are already too many Linux distros. I somehow doubt that this
particular (potential) gap can be filled to maintain Slackware's legendary
reputation for elegance,simplicity and reliability.

Looking at the (bloated) distros I have to use on enterprise servers because
of the 24x7 maintenance & support vendor requirements, it's a real shame I
can't use Pat Volkerding's brainchild.

liked with the installation was that once
you settle on a particular type of configuration (when compiling source), it
saves your choices and subsequent configurations are much faster and can be
made nearly automatic. Very useful if you compile from source regularly.
