Yeah, it's kind of sad. Perl still has a lot of life left in it but it's no longer the flavour of the month/year/decade.
Maybe in this mailing list or in our country but i doubt this is the case in some parts of the world like in London.PM (?), NY.PM (?) and Wellington.PM (?).
I sometimes feel antiquated for still using Perl, but the advance of Java is inexorable. That said, Java ain't so bad. I'm actually getting used to it. I sure miss the lexing and parsing capabilities of Perl, but Java is much faster so it evens out.
Although you and Migs are now more into Java dev, I'd still recommend you two to become honorary members if we are successful at creating an *active* PM group.
About 100% more code lines but 50% faster runtime, in my own tests. And you get nice IDE's. A worthwhile tradeoff, in my opinion.
I'd love to see your tests. I understand some Java, it'd be fun to see it with my own eyes. _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
