I tested the CMOS battery and found out that it's already juiced up so I replaced it with a new one - but the problem still persist.

I don't know if this is a hardware problem or a DHCP problem but i notice that the MAC address of my NIC is constantly changing every reboot. I'm expecting that the MAC shouldn't change after bringing down the interface, set a valid MAC, and bring it up again, pero the address still changes - specifically the 3rd up to the 6th after every reboot. Here's what I did: ifconfig eth0 down ifconfig eth0 hw ether 12:34:56:78:9a:bc ifconfig eth0 up /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 start /** im using slackware **/ Any ideas?
