they make billions through their global services, which is basically
their linux/open source consulting division.
middleware is a big deal to them and linux is a big part of that
playbook.


According to one of my colleagues who spent 10 years at IBM, IBM has
been burned so many times in the OS business (OS/2, AS/400, etc..) but
they still need an OS they can "control." So this time they're
leveraging Linux.
