I discovered that the few Linux users of Ateneo QC, namely Dr. Paulito

satisfied with the stability of "unstable". So I decided to switch from
Ubuntu LTS to Debian ETCH, on my way to "Unstable". I downloaded the ETCH
180MB netinstall iso, burned the CD and installed Debian with that CD. It
helped that I had a broadband connection, so I was able to complete the
installation of workstation, web server, and database server in around two
hours.

In my experience running Unstable is looking for trouble, especially
when you're running a web server. (For that everybody will recommend
using the dated "Stable" distribution.) That's why it's called
"Unstable" and nicknamed "Sid" (the kid who likes to break toys in Toy
Story. I use Testing (is it still Etch?).

I'm preparing to upgrade to AMD64 on a Sempron still running 32-bit
kernel and userland. I now have a relatively fast DSL connection
(compared to dialup ;). However the service is flaky, so I decided to
download at least the first of the 3 Etch installation DVD images via
the preferred jigdo (jigsaw-download) method
(http://www.debian.org/CD/jigdo-cd/).
