I've tried two linux distros with VirtualBox: (1) Scientific Linux

but the installation aborts as soon as anaconda comes in. Maybe I
can get it to work with "linux noprobe" at the start of the
installation but I'm too lazy and don't have much luxury of time
(takot din! heheh). Kubuntu 6.10, on the other hand, seems to work
right out of the box as a LiveCD. I hope I have time to install it
soon, although there's no incentive for me to do that as I'm
already using Kubuntu 6.10 and the main OS.
have you tried it passing: noapic acpi=off ?
you don't have to go through with the install... just go past where
you crashed before.
just my two cents.
