Hi Demitri, Glad you've come over to the dark side. I think you'll like it. You asked a good question and got some good responses. I might offer one thing up for your consideration as you move forward.
PLUG is a great group. I live in the US and PLUG is the group I pay attention to more than any other. The people here are generally friendly and eager to help. HOWEVER, I would recommend that you also subscribe to the Linux Newbies list, and post a majority of your questions there, while watching this list for other good info. Advanced Linux users can be, well, grumpy (for lack of a better word) and might tell you "R.T.F.M." or "Did you Google it first?" They are referring to the best specialisted search in the world: http://www.google.com/linux (a specialized Linux search on Google). Also key is how you ASK the questions. Once you have looked on Google and still not found it, you will find that you will get a much better response to your question if you say "I've looked on Google using XXX as my search term but didn't find what I was looking for. Can someone point me in the right direction?" and you'll almost always get a friendly response. Finally, enjoy your Linux experience. I think you'll have fun with it, and don't be afraid to break it and re-install. That is how a lot of people learned. Dave Tampa, FL On 5/24/07, Dimitri Swarzkovski <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
Hi! I'm a Linux newbie. Anyone would be kind enough to recommend any site, books, materials that I can visit, download or buy to help me start learning more about Linux?
