If you let your ISP set the PTR records, yes you will still need to
email them for the changes, but if you ask your ask them to delegate
to you the in-addr.arpa NS for your IPs, no you don't need to email
them, you just have to make the changes at your dns. Make sure that
your forward and reverse dns records match.
