hmmm... Xgrid comes with every mac... not just xservers/os x  
server... so a house/office with two or more macs can be a "cluster".

there used to be an xgrid port for linux... dunno whatever happened  
to that project.
it would be a cheap solution though... one good mac-head node... plus  
multiple cheap linux boxes running xgrid, openmpi, distcc... of  
course the linux nodes would have to have apple's gcc variant for  
distcc to work "right"...
assuming of course xgrid for linux works...

sorry, stopping now. just geeking out at the idea.
