Don't you mean "LEADING" whitespace? Not nitpicking, but this is a technical discussion group so we must be accurate. I insist because before I read the man page for sort, I experimented on TRAILING whitespace and got correct results. Then when I've already composed my initial draft of this message, I found out from the man page that the -b switch is for ignoring LEADING whitespace... :-)
Anyway, I tried it on my RH 7.3 and got the same incorrect results. :-( Ludwig is right about the locale... it fixes the "weird behavior". Agi Rivera wrote: > I'm puzzled by sort's behavior.
