honestly, i don't see anything new in terms of software. it's normal for
newer convergent handheld devices to have (but not necessarily OOTB)
SSH/VNC clients, wlan/BT/IR utilities, scripting languages, command
shell, server softwares, etc.
user nowadays check for wifi calls (via skype, etc.), youtube (via rtsp or
flash-enabled browser), google maps, office applications, etc. support.
on N800:
skype: check
youtube: check (via flash-enabled browser, but i don't know about it's
fullscreen viewing capability)
google maps: check (via browser but w/o a full map-only view? or should
you buy the separate navigation kit for another 200-ish
USD.
mobile office: (PDF reader/GNUmeric?/ABIWord?. but no OOTB
support for .doc, .ppt, odf, .odt yet? or should you
use google apps instead? ). *fyi, there's ODF support
on the S-series.
wireless mobile : via Bluetooth and a separate GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/
interface EVDO-enabled phone. (yikes)
push email : ?
*auto-screen rotation : ? (even newer digital cameras does that!) :)

I think it has the best of both worlds.
