Thanks for the reply eduardo, well, i should expound on my question more.
yes, you're right chmod can do that. i tried that already. but my case is
that i should restrict and allow staroffice writer, calc, etc to specific
users, kindly see below

user1
- can open staroffice writer
- restricted in opening staroffice calc and impress
user2
- can open staroffice writer, calc, impress..

As you know, staroffice is located in /usr/bin/staroffice8 when i installed
it. so when a user opens up writer, it is appended with a "-writer" at the
end - " /usr/bin/staroffice8 -writer " is there anyway, i can do this let a
specific user access only just the writer but not the calc and impress?
