What version of Wine are you using? Reports from WineHQ AppDB
(http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=897)
says that while Warcraft 3 runs on Wine, it really is slow. Anyway, on
what hardware are you running it?

I, myself, am running some Steam games on Wine. The games on Orange
Box in particular, using Wine 0.51.0. Just using Direct3D v8 though,
instead of Direc3D 9. Direct3D 9 is slow, but Direct3D 8.1 even on the
highest setting runs fine. Running Half-Life 2, HL2 Ep1, HL2 Ep2, Team
Fortress 2, and Portal on Wine just fine and the speed is acceptable.
I only have an Athlon XP 2600+ (2.1 GHz) and an nVidia 7600GS AGP. It
also ran fine on my old nVidia 6600 AGP.
